Over the course of 6+ weeks (from April through May), we're rolling out items directly written and upvoted by you, from our Feedback Board. It's that simple! Stay tuned for regular updates to learn what's being released.
Import Update via Crelate ID - You can now use a record's unique Crelate ID as the match key when importing data. That means you can export a set of records, make changes in a spreadsheet, and import them back, updating only the exact records you intended, with no risk of creating duplicates or mismatched records.
Duplicate Rows Now Skipped - Duplicate rows during import are now automatically skipped and tracked separately, they no longer count against your validation limit. This is a big one for those of you that previously might have had a spreadsheet error out as a result of too many duplicates. We'll simply skip over those and still allow the sheet to import (without creating or expanding existing duplicates).
11 New Field Mappings - We've added 11 new mappable fields when importing spreadsheets for fields like: nickname, job code, salary details, status, source, domain, revenue, parent account, openings, and more.
For more on updating contacts via a Crelate ID, we'll list the steps here below.
Note: The ID field used as the Unique Identifier will only be available when using the option to "Insert and Update".
To export your existing records into a spreadsheet with the ID included, so you can make updates and later reimport them into Crelate using Import Data + with the ID as the Unique Identifier, start by selecting the cogwheel icon within Contacts or Companies to add any columns you would like included in the export.
Once the desired columns are visible, you can then select the export icon and choose the appropriate options to generate your spreadsheet.
Within the export window, be sure to select the option “Include ID with each record.” Enabling this option will add a column to the exported spreadsheet containing the unique ID associated with each record.
Once your spreadsheet has been properly formatted for import, use the field mapping step to ensure the column containing the ID is mapped to the correct Crelate ID field within the import tool.
After confirming the mapping, select “Insert and Update” as the import option and choose “ID” as the Unique Identifier to ensure the records are updated correctly.
Using this Unique Identifier helps ensure more accurate matching with existing records in Crelate and reduces the likelihood of creating duplicate records when importing updates.
