When you select an email address in Crelate, such as on a Contact Record, your computer opens your default email app. If you use Gmail, you can set Chrome to open these links in Gmail instead, with the recipient’s address already filled in.
Note: These steps are for Google Chrome on a Mac.
Set Gmail as the default email app
Open Gmail in Chrome, and make sure you are signed in.
On the right side of the address bar, select the handler icon, which looks like two overlapping diamonds.
Select Allow, and then select Done.
If you do not see the handler icon, turn on protocol handlers first, as described in the next section.
If you do not see the handler icon
In Chrome, select the three dots in the top right, and then select Settings.
Select Privacy and security, and then select Site settings.
Select Additional permissions, and then select Protocol handlers.
Select Sites can ask to handle protocols.
Return to your Gmail tab, refresh the page, and follow the steps above.
💡 Pro Tip: To go straight to this setting, type chrome://settings/handlers in Chrome’s address bar.
If email links still open another app
Chrome handles email links only when Chrome opens them. If your Mac still opens Apple Mail or another app, set Chrome as your Mac’s default email reader:
Open the Mail app on your Mac.
Select Mail, then Settings, and then General.
Next to Default email reader, select Google Chrome.
