To add a Discovery Agent result to a Job or list, select Add next to the result and choose where it should go. If the Add button is missing, your User Role does not have the permissions it needs, and an Admin can fix it in Settings > Security > User Roles.
Adding a person or company from the Discovery Agent imports it into Crelate as a Contact or Company. This article explains how to add results, when AI Credits are used, and exactly which User Role permissions are needed when the Add button does not appear.
How do I add a Discovery Agent result to a Job or Opportunity?
Select Add next to the person or company in the Discovery Agent results, and then choose where to add it on the Recruiting, Business Development, or Employment Search tab.
People: Add a person to a Job on the Recruiting tab, or to an Opportunity on the Business Development or Employment Search tab.
Companies: Add a company only to the Business Development or Employment Search tab.
💡 Pro Tip: If you plan to add several people to the same Opportunity, use the selection at the top of the results to pre-select it. Each time you select Add, the person is then added to that Opportunity automatically.
How do I add Discovery Agent results to a list?
Use the dropdown next to Add on a result to add it to a list instead. The options are Select Lists, New List, and Recent Lists.
Does adding a result use AI Credits?
Yes, the first time you import a person or company. Importing a person uses 5 AI Credits. When you add a person, the Discovery Agent automatically enriches the Contact if there is information available to enrich, and in that case an additional 20 AI Credits are used. Importing a company uses 10 AI Credits.
Credits are charged only the first time a person or company is imported into Crelate. If the record already exists in your database, adding it again does not use additional AI Credits. For the full list of credit costs, see Understanding AI Credits.
Why are some Discovery Agent results hidden?
If a Contact or the Contact’s current Company has a “Do Not Use” status, that result is hidden from view by default. This can be turned off if you would like to see those results.
Why is the Add button missing?
The Add button in the Discovery Agent appears only if your User Role has the permissions it needs. Admins have full access, so the button always appears for them. For everyone else, the permissions depend on what you are adding. Each one is a setting in Settings > Security > User Roles:
To add a person to a Job:
Core Records > Contacts: Edit or Full
Core Records > Contacts > Move Job Board Stage: Full
Core Records > Contacts > Contact Data Enrichment: Allowed
Core Records > Companies: Edit or Full
Core Records > Opportunities > Jobs: at least Read
Picklists > Job Titles, Schools, Degrees, and Academic Honors: Create
To add a person to a list:
Core Records > Contacts: Edit or Full
Core Records > Contacts > Contact Data Enrichment: Allowed
Core Records > Companies: Edit or Full
Picklists > Job Titles, Schools, Degrees, and Academic Honors: Create
To add a company:
Core Records > Companies: Edit or Full
To add the company to a Business Development or Employment Search Opportunity, also set Core Records > Opportunities to at least Read for that type, and set Move Job Board Stage to Full.
The Contact Data Enrichment permission is needed because the Discovery Agent automatically enriches a person when you add them, if there is information available to enrich for that Contact. Adding a person also brings in details such as job titles and education from their profile, so the role needs permission to create those Picklist items, not only to use them. In the User Roles screen, the Accrediting Institutions Picklists appear as Schools, Degrees, and Academic Honors.
💡 Pro Tip: If a user can add people to a list but not to a Job, check Move Job Board Stage and read access to Jobs first, because those are the two requirements that apply only to Jobs. If a user cannot add people to either, check Contact Data Enrichment and the Picklists.
What if a user has more than one role?
If a user is assigned more than one role, they receive the highest privilege across their roles. For example, if one role gives a user Read access to Contacts and another role gives them Full access, the user has full privileges on Contacts. When a user cannot add results, an Admin should check every role assigned to that user.
How does an Admin give a User Role access to the Add button?
Go to Settings > Security > User Roles. Navigate Here.
Select the User Role you would like to update.
Under Core Records, set Contacts and Companies to Edit or Full.
Expand Contacts and set Contact Data Enrichment to Allowed. This is needed to add people to a list or a Job.
To allow adding people to a Job, also set Move Job Board Stage to Full. Then, under Opportunities, set Jobs to at least Read.
Under Picklists, set Job Titles, Schools, Degrees, and Academic Honors to Create.
Select Save to apply the changes.
Edit lets users create, view, and edit a record type, and Full also lets them delete. Creating custom User Roles is a Business feature, and Professional customers can modify the default roles. For more detail, see User Roles.
Key takeaway
To add a Discovery Agent result to a Job or Opportunity, select Add and choose the Recruiting, Business Development, or Employment Search tab. Companies can go only to Business Development or Employment Search. Use the dropdown next to Add to add a result to a list instead. AI Credits are charged only the first time a person or company is imported: 5 AI Credits for a person, 20 more when the Discovery Agent automatically enriches the Contact, and 10 for a company. If the Add button is missing, the User Role needs Edit or Full on Contacts and Companies, Contact Data Enrichment set to Allowed, and Create on the Job Titles, Schools, Degrees, and Academic Honors Picklists. Adding a person to a Job also needs Move Job Board Stage set to Full and at least Read access to Jobs. Users with more than one role receive the highest privilege across their roles, and Admins have full access. An Admin can review and adjust these settings in Settings > Security > User Roles.
