Crelate’s AI data is refreshed on a regular schedule and improves over time, but no dataset can guarantee complete or current information for every person.
Crelate, the AI Recruiting Platform, uses a large proprietary dataset to power the Discover Agent, the Insights Agent, and Contact Data Enrichment. This article explains how that data is refreshed, what level of quality to expect, and what you can do when a profile is missing information.
What data does Crelate’s AI use?
Crelate’s AI draws on two connected sources of data.
Discover Agent and Insights Agent: An AI-refreshed network of over 1 billion professional profiles and over 20 million companies that you can search, view, and enrich into your database. Both agents use the same dataset.
Contact Data Enrichment: Additional details such as phone number, email address, and employer for up to 1 billion people, added to a Contact Record on request.
How often is Crelate’s AI data refreshed?
The dataset behind the Discover Agent and Insights Agent goes through a new hydration once a month. Hydration is the process of refreshing the dataset so that profiles become more complete and accurate over time.
The data used by Contact Data Enrichment is refreshed continuously.
Not every record is updated in every refresh. Crelate cannot guarantee that a specific profile has changed since you last viewed it.
How does Crelate’s AI data quality compare to other AI tools?
Crelate’s dataset performs within the range of most AI data tools available today. Across the industry, no provider can offer a complete and fully current profile for every person. Quality varies by the type of information, such as email address, phone number, or current employer.
People also change roles, employers, and contact details often, so even a recently refreshed profile may not reflect a very recent change.
What level of quality should I expect?
When Contact Data Enrichment finds a match, it returns the details the dataset holds for that person. Core information such as name, employer, and location changes less often than contact details, so it is more likely to still be current between refreshes.
Contact details are the exception. Phone numbers and email addresses change most frequently, so they are the fields most likely to be outdated when a person has recently moved roles or employers.
If a profile looks thin or an enrichment returns nothing, the cause is more often a Contact Record with too few identifying details than a gap in the dataset. Adding a few known fields is usually the quickest way to improve the result. See “What does Match not found mean?” below.
What affects how complete a profile is?
Two main things determine what you get back.
How much the Contact Record already contains. Enrichment works by matching a person. The more identifying details a Contact Record holds, the more confidently the service can find the right person and return a full profile.
When the person’s details last changed. A profile reflects the most recent refresh. If someone changed roles or phone numbers after that refresh, the record may show the earlier details until the next update.
In some cases, the dataset also does not yet hold a particular detail for a person, and Crelate cannot guarantee that every detail is available for every Contact.
How often will information be outdated?
There is no fixed rate, because it depends on the person. Information for someone who recently changed roles or phone numbers is more likely to be outdated than for someone whose details have been stable. Phone numbers and email addresses change most often, which is why they are the fields most likely to need updating between refreshes. If you are seeing this across many Contacts, check how many identifying fields those Contact Records contain before the next enrichment.
Why might a profile be missing or outdated information?
A profile may be missing information when the dataset does not contain it yet. A profile may look thin or return no match when the Contact Record has too few identifying details for the enrichment service to find the right person. A profile may show outdated information when a person’s details changed after the most recent refresh, or when that record was not included in the most recent refresh. Each refresh works to close these gaps, but the result depends on what information is available in the dataset at that time.
Does Crelate guarantee complete and current data for every Contact?
No. Crelate works to make the information as complete and accurate as possible, but it cannot guarantee that every Contact will have all information available or that the information will always be the most recent.
Where does Crelate’s AI data come from?
The sources of this data are proprietary and are not shared for either the Discover Agent and Insights Agent or Contact Data Enrichment. For this reason, Crelate cannot provide the specific sources used.
What does “Match not found” mean?
When Contact Data Enrichment cannot find a likely match for a Contact Record, you see a “Match not found” message. It means the Contact Record does not yet contain enough information for the enrichment service to confidently identify the person. No AI Credits are consumed when this happens.
To narrow down to a likely match, Crelate recommends having 3 or more of the following fields populated on the Contact Record:
Primary Email Address
Primary Phone Number
Website - LinkedIn Profile
Website - Facebook
First Name
Last Name
Company - Current Position
Location
Postal Code
Education - School
To resolve the message, add details to the Contact Record using the fields above, and then run Contact Data Enrichment again. The more of these fields that are populated, the better the chance that the enrichment service finds a likely match.
💡 Pro Tip: Fields that identify a person directly, such as a LinkedIn profile or a primary email address, are often the quickest way to reach the 3-field recommendation. If you already have one of them, add it first.
What can I do when a Contact is missing information?
Complete the identifying fields on the Contact Record, and then run Contact Data Enrichment from the Contact Record or the Crelate Chrome AI Talent Assistant. You can also add details you already know directly to the Contact Record.
💡 Pro Tip: Look for the phone and email indicator icons to focus on the most actionable profiles first. In Discover Agent results, the icons appear next to a person’s name when the profile contains that contact information, so you can see it before you open each one. In the Crelate Chrome AI Talent Assistant, indicator icons show when phone number or email data is available to add through enrichment, so you know a Contact has details to gain before you spend AI Credits.
Key takeaway
The dataset behind the Discover Agent and Insights Agent goes through a new hydration once a month, and the data used by Contact Data Enrichment is refreshed continuously, so profiles become more complete and accurate over time. Core details such as name, employer, and location are more likely to be current, while phone numbers and email addresses change most often and are the most likely to be outdated. Not every record is updated in every refresh, and Crelate cannot guarantee that every Contact will have all information available or that it will always be the most recent. The dataset performs within the range of most AI data tools. The sources are proprietary and are not shared for either feature. When enrichment returns “Match not found” or a profile looks thin, add details to the Contact Record so that 3 or more of the recommended fields are populated, and then try again. No AI Credits are consumed when no match is found.
