Who Can Use Crelate MCP
Crelate MCP lets you connect an AI tool such as Claude or ChatGPT to your Crelate data. The Crelate MCP Server is currently available as a beta feature for Business Plus and higher subscriptions, depending on the services included in your plan. Crelate turns it on for each organization. It is not on by default, and you cannot turn it on yourself.
Only Administrators have immediate access. Other users can connect after an Administrator sets the MCP Access privilege on their role.
To request access, contact Crelate Support. For questions about usage limits or pricing, contact your Success Manager.
The fully supported platforms are Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Gemini Enterprise.
Check Whether MCP Is Available to You
In Crelate, navigate to Your Profile & Preferences, then select AI / MCP Access under Personal Settings. What you see tells you what to fix:
“AI / MCP Access requires a Crelate Business+ subscription.” MCP is not available for your organization yet. This message appears for any organization where MCP is not turned on, including a Business Plus organization that has not been added to the beta. Contact Crelate Support.
“Your role does not have MCP access. Ask your administrator to enable it for your role.” MCP is available, but your role does not have permission. An Administrator can fix this, as described in the next section.
“You haven’t connected any AI clients yet.” MCP is ready. Connect your AI tool by following Setting Up Your Crelate MCP Connection.
Allow a Role to Use MCP (Administrators)
To let the people in a role connect AI tools, an Administrator sets the MCP Access privilege on that role. Each person then connects their own AI tool. Only the MCP Access privilege is needed.
Select Settings > Security > User Roles.
Select the role.
In the Misc section, find MCP Access and set it to Allowed. If it is set to No, the people in that role cannot connect.
Save your changes.
The MCP Access option appears in the role editor only after Crelate has turned MCP on for your organization. To see how much each person is using MCP, select Settings > Subscription > MCP Usage.
Fix a Connection That Will Not Complete
If your AI tool cannot connect to Crelate, check these items in order:
Server address. Use
https://mcp.crelate.com/mcp.Sign-in. Sign in with your own Crelate credentials. The AI tool then acts as you and can only see what you can see in Crelate.
AI tool. Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor are the preferred AI apps and connect by signing in with your Crelate credentials. Microsoft 365 Copilot and Gemini Enterprise connect through an Administrator in Settings > Security > AI Platform Connectors. For Microsoft 365 Copilot, follow Connecting Microsoft 365 Copilot to the Crelate MCP Server, then connect Crelate MCP under Chat settings > Sources. It does not appear when you type @. Copilot Studio is not supported yet. For any other AI tool, contact Crelate Support before you plan around it.
AI tool permissions. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an organization owner may need to add the Crelate connector before you can connect.
Approval screen. When your AI tool connects, Crelate shows a screen saying the tool wants to access your Crelate account. Select Allow. If you select Deny, no connection is made.
What an AI Tool Can and Cannot Do
Most MCP tools only read your data, such as Contacts, Companies, Jobs, and activities. A few can change data, for example by creating a note or moving a record to a different workflow stage. No tool sends email for you or changes your Crelate settings.
On the approval screen, View your Crelate data and View your Crelate data in bulk are selected by default. Modify your Crelate data and Modify your Crelate data in bulk are not. If your AI tool can read records but cannot create a note or change a stage, disconnect it, connect again, and select the Modify options. Reconnecting shows the approval screen again.
If your AI tool reports Rate limit exceeded, it has called the same tool too many times in a short period. Wait a few seconds and ask again.
See and Disconnect Connected AI Tools
In Crelate, navigate to Your Profile & Preferences and select AI / MCP Access. The Connected apps list shows each tool, the access it has, and when it was connected. Select Disconnect to remove a tool. Crelate revokes its access immediately. Allow a minute or two afterward to make sure the disconnection has taken effect. You can connect again at any time. You can connect again at any time.
If you created a personal MCP access key before sign-in connections were available, it appears under Access keys, and you can revoke it. New keys cannot be created.
What Leaves Crelate
Information an AI tool retrieves is sent to that tool’s provider and handled under the provider’s terms, not Crelate’s. Check your organization’s rules before you connect.
