To create a Zap, open the Zapier guide in Crelate, enable your API key, and build your Zap in Zapier with a Crelate trigger or a template.

What do you need before you start?

You need a Zapier account and a Crelate API key. The Zapier integration is available on Business and higher subscriptions. For an overview of what Zapier can do with Crelate, see What is Crelate’s Zapier Integration?.

How do you open the Zapier guide in Crelate?

  1. Open the navigation menu and select Your Profile & Preferences.

  2. Select Integrations.

  3. In the Zapier section, click Get Started.

  4. Follow the four steps in the Get Started guide: get familiar with Zapier, sign up with Zapier, enable your Crelate API key, and create your first Zap.

How do you build a Zap?

This example updates a row in a Google Sheet when a Contact is updated in Crelate.

  1. Choose your Crelate trigger. Select the trigger event, such as Updated Contact, then continue. The Updated Contact and Updated Job triggers do not fire on new activities.

  2. Connect your Crelate account and test the trigger. Use your Crelate API key to connect, then test the step.

  3. Choose the app for your action. Select Set up this step under Action, then search for the app or select it from the list.

  4. Choose the action. For example, select Update Spreadsheet Row in Google Sheets, then continue.

  5. Connect your account for that app. Select the account you want to use, or click Connect an Account to add one, then continue.

  6. Fill in the required fields. Select the spreadsheet, worksheet, and row. Fields marked required must be filled in.

  7. Map Crelate information to the other app’s fields. For each column, choose the Crelate information that should fill it. A column left blank is not changed.

  8. Test, name, and turn on the Zap. Give the Zap a name and make sure the switch is on. While it is on, the Zap runs instantly when the Crelate trigger happens.

Can you start from a template?

Yes. The Get started guide includes Templates to get you started, and each template is a ready-made Zap. Click Use this workflow on a template to start from it. Examples include:

  • Google Sheets and Crelate: Add Opportunities and Jobs to Crelate from rows in Google Sheets.

  • Crelate and Slack: Send channel messages in Slack when new Jobs are added in Crelate.

  • Crelate and Google Contacts: Create new Google contacts from Crelate Contacts.

  • Crelate and Google Tasks: Create Google Tasks from new Crelate Contacts.

To see more, click View More Templates at the bottom of the guide, or browse Crelate’s Zapier page.

How do you pause a Zap?

The best way to pause a Zap is to turn it off in your Zapier dashboard. Find it in the Zaps tab, then turn off the Zap.

Admins on Business Plus and Enterprise plans can also pause a trigger from Crelate.

  1. Go to Security, then select API Access.

  2. In the Webhooks section, select the trigger’s row.

  3. Select Activate/Deactivate the selected webhook. The trigger’s Status changes to Off, and it stops sending information.

On a Business plan, pause the Zap in Zapier.

💡 Pro Tip: Pause your Zap before you bulk import or update Contacts. Otherwise, every change can fire a trigger and send a flood of actions to your other app.
