Job Portal tags are tags you add to a published job so candidates can find similar jobs. They appear under each job on your Job Portal, and you can show a tag filter so candidates can narrow the jobs they see. Any user can add an existing tag to a job. Only an administrator can create, rename, merge, move, or delete tags in Settings > Customization > Tags.

What are Job Portal tags?

Tags are a core feature in Crelate. They let you mark a record so you can group and search for it more quickly. Crelate has several types of tags, such as tags for contacts, companies, and email templates. Job Portal tags are a separate type. You use them on published jobs, and they appear only on jobs.

When you publish a job to your Portal, you can optionally add tags to the posting. The tags help candidates find similar jobs.

How do Job Portal tags appear to candidates?

Job Portal tags appear under each job where they have been added. If you turn on the tag filter, candidates can also use it to narrow the jobs they see by tag.

How to add a Job Portal tag to a job

  1. Open the job and select Publish. The Publish Job window opens.

  2. Go to Step 2 - Options. Under Additional Publishing Options, find the Tags field.

  3. Add a tag in one of two ways:

    • Type the tag name in the Add Tags field. A suggestion appears for any matching tag that already exists. Select it.

    • Use the magnifying glass. Select it to choose a tag from the list of available tags.

  4. Select Publish at the bottom right to apply your changes.

Administrators can also create a new tag from this field by typing a tag name that does not exist yet. Other users can only choose existing tags.

How to create a Job Portal tag in Settings

An administrator can create tags in Settings before publishing.

  1. Go to Settings > Customization > Tags.

  2. In the list of tag categories, select Portal Tags.

  3. Select New Tag.

  4. Enter the name of the tag.

  5. Select Save at the top of the page. The tag is not created until you save.

How to show a tag filter on your Job Portal

  1. Go to Settings > Portals > Job Portal > Job Portal Settings.

  2. Under Search & Filters, set Show Tag Filters to Show.

To remove the filter, set Show Tag Filters to Hide. Tags still appear under each job where they have been added.

How do you manage Job Portal tags?

An administrator can rename, merge, move, or delete Job Portal tags in Settings > Customization > Tags, under Portal Tags. The steps are the same for every tag category, so they are in Managing, Creating, and Exporting Tags. Each action affects your Job Portal in a specific way:

  • Rename. The new name appears on every job that uses the tag. Select Save at the top of the page to apply it.

  • Merge. You can merge a Job Portal tag only with another Job Portal tag. Every job that had either tag has the tag you keep. Select Merge to confirm.

  • Move. The tag moves out of Job Portal tags and into the category you choose, so it no longer appears under jobs or on your Job Portal. Select Move Tag to confirm.

  • Delete. The tag is removed from every job that uses it, and from your Job Portal, including the tag filter. You do not need to remove the tag from your jobs first. Select Delete next to the tag, then select Save at the top of the page.

Key takeaway

Job Portal tags categorize your published jobs and appear under each job on your Job Portal. Any user can add an existing tag to a job. Only administrators can create, rename, merge, move, or delete tags in Settings > Customization > Tags. To let candidates filter by tag, set Show Tag Filters to Show in Job Portal Settings.
