Why Did My Report Numbers Change?

Common reasons a total, chart, or scheduled email looks different after the October 2026 reporting release, and what to check.

Written by Chelsie Pettit

After the October 2026 release, some reports may show different numbers than before. In most cases, nothing is wrong: reports now count records that were previously left out, or place records in the period where they belong. Find what you're seeing below to learn why and what to check.

My totals went up

What you see: Charts grouped by owner or user show higher totals, or pie chart percentages have shifted.

Why: Reports now count records that used to be left out. These records appear in new groups:

  • Inactive users: records owned by users who have been deactivated

  • No longer a user: records owned by users who have been deleted

  • No owner: records that don't have an owner

What to do: Look for these groups on the chart. If a total went up, the difference is usually here.

Choose how inactive users appear

You can decide how charts on a page show people whose accounts have been deactivated. This applies to every chart on the page that groups by a person, such as owner, created by, or assigned to. Charts that don't group by a person, and data tables, aren't affected.

  1. Select the page, then select the gear icon next to Filters to open Configure Page.

  2. Select Display Options.

  3. Under Inactive Users, choose an option:

    • Group them together: show all inactive users as one Inactive users group.

    • List them by name: show each inactive user separately.

    • Leave their records out: don't count records owned by inactive users.

  4. Select OK.

Only a report's owners and Admins can save changes to a page.

I see a new "Other" slice, or different groups on my chart

What you see: A pie or bar chart now includes an Other, Other Users, or Other Activity Types group. On sum or average charts, the groups shown may be different than before.

Why: When a chart has more values than it can display, the extra values are now combined into an Other group instead of being left out. On sum and average charts, the groups with the largest values are kept, rather than the groups with the most records.

What to do: Select Other to see what it includes. To show fewer groups, add a filter to the chart. Selecting a chart value to see its records is available on Business Plus and higher.

My counts changed at the start or end of a period

What you see: A "this month," "last week," or similar date range shows a slightly different count than before, often by a record or two.

Why: Date ranges now follow your user or organization time zone, including daylight saving time. Filters on date-only fields, such as start dates, due dates, and custom date fields, now begin and end on your calendar day. Previously, some records near the edge of a period were counted in the wrong period.

What to do: No action is needed. If a number moved, a record that previously landed in the wrong period is now counted in the right one. If you are outside the Americas, you may also notice that an empty extra bar at the end of week, month, quarter, or year charts is gone.

A chart on a filtered page shows different numbers

What you see: A chart on a page with page filters shows fewer (or different) records than you expect.

Why: Page filters now apply to the type of record each chart counts, so every chart on the page is filtered correctly. Page filters and chart filters work together: the page filter applies first, and chart filters narrow the results further. A chart only shows records that match both.

What to do: Check both sets of filters:

  • Page filters: select Filters on the page row.

  • Chart filters: select the filter icon on the chart. The Filters tab shows a count of the filters on that chart.

My pivot table looks different

What you see: Empty cells show a dot (·) instead of 0, cells are shaded, or the table shows more rows than before.

Why: Pivot tables now show a dot for cells with no records or a value of zero, and heat shading is on by default so higher values stand out. Pivot tables can also show up to 4,000 rows.

My funnel chart changed shape

What you see: An existing funnel chart has a different shape.

Why: Funnel segments are now sized by each stage's value, so the shape reflects your actual numbers. The values themselves have not changed.

My workflow chart shows more stages

What you see: A built-in workflow chart now shows more stages than before.

Why: Workflow charts previously stopped at 10 stages. They now show every stage in your workflow.

A chart shows an error instead of "No data"

What you see: A chart that used to look empty now shows an error message, or a message asking you to narrow your chart.

Why: When a chart can't load its data, it now tells you, instead of looking like there is no data. Charts with too many groups ask you to narrow them.

What to do: Add a filter, shorten the date range, or reduce the number of groups on the chart. If the error continues, contact Crelate Support.

My scheduled report email shows different numbers

What you see: A scheduled report email arrives at a different time, or its "today" or "yesterday" numbers don't match what you expected.

Why: Scheduled report emails now use the time zone of the person who set up the schedule. If that person has no time zone set, the organization's time zone is used, then Pacific time. The footer of each email shows which time zone was used. If a chart can't load, it is left out of the email.

What to do: Make sure the person who set up the schedule has a time zone set in their User Preferences.
