Embedded Report Pages

Learn how to display a dashboard from another product, such as Power BI, as a page inside a Crelate report. This article covers allowing the product in settings, adding the embedded page, sharing it with your team, and troubleshooting.

Written by Amanda Krutz

Embedded dashboards will be available starting Friday, October 30, 2026, following our scheduled release from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. PT. Until then, this feature is not yet available in your account.

Bring the data you use outside of Crelate next to your recruiting data. With embedded dashboards, a report page in Crelate can display a dashboard from another product, so your team can review items such as billing, payroll, or payables information in the same place as their recruiting reports.

Available on Business Plus and higher.

What are embedded dashboards?

An embedded dashboard shows a dashboard from another product as a page inside a Crelate report. The data stays in the other product, and Crelate only displays it.

Embedded dashboards are helpful when you want to:

  • Review recruiting activity and business results side by side.

  • Give leaders one place to check key numbers.

  • Spend less time switching between systems.

Which products can I embed?

You can embed a dashboard from any product that supports embedded reports. Power BI is a common choice, and the examples in this article use it. An Admin must allow the product’s address in Embedded Reports settings before anyone can embed a page from it.

If a product still does not display after you have worked through the troubleshooting steps below, contact Support.

What do I need before I begin?

You need three things in place before an embedded dashboard will display.

  • An allowed location. Embedded dashboards are off by default. An Admin must add the address of the other product in Embedded Reports settings before anyone can embed a page from it.

  • An embed link from the other product. The link must come from the other product’s embed option. The address in your browser bar will not display.

  • Access to the other product. Each person who views the page needs a login for the other product and access to the dashboard itself.

How do I allow a product to display in Crelate?

Admins allow a product by adding its address to the Embedded Reports setting, and only the locations listed there can display.

  1. Open Settings, then select Advanced, then Embedded Reports.

  2. Enter the address of each product your reports will embed, with one location on each line. For example: https://app.powerbi.com

  3. Select Save.

  4. Reload Crelate. Changes take effect the next time the application is reloaded.

Rules for locations

  • Each location must start with https:// and name an exact host.

  • Wildcards are not supported.

  • Up to 10 locations can be allowed.

💡 Pro Tip: Enter only the main address, such as https://app.powerbi.com, without anything after it. The full report link goes on the report page later, not in this setting.

💡 Pro Tip: A location listed here can display content inside Crelate, so add only products that your organization trusts.

How do I get the correct embed link from Power BI?

Use the link from the Embed report option in Power BI, not the address from your browser bar. The browser address cannot be displayed inside another site, and the page will show an error that says the product refused to connect.

  1. In Power BI, open the report and select Save if it has not been saved. An unsaved report cannot provide an embed link.

  2. Select File, then Embed report.

  3. Select Website or portal.

  4. Copy the link. It begins with https://app.powerbi.com/reportEmbed?reportId=.

If Embed report or Website or portal is missing or unavailable, your Power BI administrator may have turned it off.

💡 Pro Tip: Do not choose Publish to web. That option makes the report visible to anyone who has the link, and it also skips the sign-in step your team should see.

If you use a different product, look for its option to embed in a website or portal, and use the link that option provides.

How do I add an embedded dashboard to a report?

You add an embedded dashboard by adding an embedded page to a report and entering the product address and the rest of the link in separate boxes.

  1. Open Reports and select the report where you want the dashboard to appear.

  2. Select the + to the right of the report page names. The Add Report Page menu opens with Blank Page, Standard Report Pages, and Embedded Page.

  3. Select Embedded Page. You are prompted to name the page.

  4. Enter a name for the page, such as “Billing Dashboard.” If you keep the default, the page remains named New Embedded Page.

  5. The Configure Embedded Page window opens automatically.

  6. In Address, enter only the part of your embed link before the question mark. For example: https://app.powerbi.com/reportEmbed

  7. Under Query string, in Parameters, enter everything after the question mark, without the question mark itself. For example: reportId=...&autoAuth=true&ctid=...

  8. Select OK.

  9. Select the green Save button at the top of the report page.

💡 Pro Tip: Choose a name that tells your team what the dashboard shows. You can change the name at any time by selecting Configure Page, then Rename page.

💡 Pro Tip: If you see Remove the ? and anything after it. Put parameters in the Query string box below., the full link was pasted into Address. Move everything after the question mark into Parameters.

💡 Pro Tip: The gray example text in Parameters (user={{cr_userid}}&view=summary) is only a sample. Power BI does not need a user id, so replace the example with the parameters from your own link.

💡 Pro Tip: Ask your Admin to add the product to Embedded Reports settings before you create the page. Crelate will not display a page from a location that has not been allowed.

How do I change the address of an embedded page later?

You can change the address or parameters of an embedded page at any time using Embedded Page Settings.

  1. Open the embedded page and select Configure Page.

  2. Select Embedded Page Settings. The Configure Embedded Page window opens.

  3. Update Address or Parameters as needed.

  4. Select OK, then select the green Save button at the top of the report page.

What happens if the product has not been allowed by an Admin?

Crelate shows a red message in the Configure Embedded Page window next to Test address, and the dashboard will not display. The message names the address, for example “https://app.hubspot.com is not an allowed embed location, so it will not display,” and lists the locations that are allowed so far.

To fix this, an Admin must add the address of the product to Embedded Reports settings under Settings, then Advanced. After the Admin saves the setting and Crelate is reloaded, return to Embedded Page Settings and enter the address again.

How do I choose who can see an embedded page?

By default, only the report’s owners, Administrators, and users with Report Access All can see a new embedded page. To share it with other roles, select User Role Access in the page options and choose the roles that should see it.

Seeing the page in Crelate does not grant access to the dashboard itself. Each person must also have access to the report in the other product.

How do I share an embedded page with my team?

You share an embedded page the same way you share any other report page, and there are two options that work differently. User Role Access gives an entire user role access to the page, so anyone with that role can open it. Sharing and ownership lets you give access to specific users instead of an entire role.

To give a user role access to the page

  1. Open the embedded page and select Configure Page.

  2. Select User Role Access. The Select User Roles window opens.

  3. Select each role that should see the page. Only roles with Report Access set to Limited are listed.

  4. Select OK, then select the green Save button at the top of the report page.

When no roles are selected, only the report’s owners, Administrators, and users with Report Access All can see the page. Select Clear Selection to return to that setting.

To give specific users access

  1. Select Configure Report.

  2. Select Sharing and ownership. The Share Report window opens.

  3. Search for the name of each user you want to add as an owner. Owners can open the report and every page on it, even when it is not shared with everyone.

  4. To share with everyone, select Everyone in the organization can view this report. When this is off, only owners and Administrators can open the report.

  5. Select OK, then select Save.

Viewers can filter what they see but cannot save changes. Owners whose role has Report Permissions set to Full can also change, share, and delete the report, and Administrators can change any report.

💡 Pro Tip: Use User Role Access when everyone in a role should see the page, and Sharing and ownership when only certain people should. Seeing the page in Crelate does not grant access to the dashboard itself, so each person also needs access to the report in the other product.

What will my team see when they open the page?

The page asks each person to sign in to the other product, and then the dashboard appears. Crelate does not sign users in or store their login for the other product.

  1. Open the report page that contains the embedded dashboard.

  2. Select Sign in when the prompt appears.

  3. Sign in with the account that has access to the dashboard.

  4. The dashboard displays on the page.

What happens if an Admin removes a product from Embedded Reports?

The page stops displaying and shows the message This content is blocked. Contact the site owner to fix the issue. The page and its settings stay in place, so nothing needs to be rebuilt.

To bring the dashboard back, an Admin adds the address to Embedded Reports settings again, saves, and reloads Crelate. The page then displays again with no other changes needed.

Troubleshooting

Why does the page say “This content is blocked”?

The address for the product is not in the Embedded Reports list. An Admin may have removed it. Ask an Admin to add the address under Settings, then Advanced, then Embedded Reports, save, and reload Crelate. The page will display again without any other changes.

Why does it say my address is not an allowed embed location?

The product has not been added to Embedded Reports settings. An Admin must add the address there, save, and reload Crelate. Once it is added, enter the address again in Embedded Page Settings.

Why does the page say the product refused to connect?

The link entered is most likely the address from the browser bar. Return to the other product, find its option to embed in a website or portal, and use that link instead. In Power BI, select File, then Embed report, then Website or portal.

Why does the page stay blank or keep asking me to sign in?

The sign-in may be blocked by the browser. Allow third-party cookies for Crelate, try a regular window instead of a private one, and sign in again.

Why can some users not see the embedded page?

Their access may not be set up yet. Check User Role Access on the page to see whether their role is selected, and check Sharing and ownership on the report to see whether they have been added. Also confirm that they have access to the dashboard in the other product.

What should I do if a product still does not display?

Work through the steps above first. Then contact Support.

What to share if it still does not work

  • A screenshot of the Embedded Reports setting.

  • A screenshot of the Configure Embedded Page window, with the report ID blurred.

  • The product you are embedding and the error message shown on the page.

  • The browser you are using, and whether the page works in a private window.

Key takeaway

Any product that supports embedded reports can be used. An Admin first adds the product address in Embedded Reports settings and reloads Crelate. Then, on a report, select +, choose Embedded Page, and enter the part of the embed link before the question mark in Address and the rest in Parameters. Use User Role Access to share the page with an entire role, or Sharing and ownership to share with specific users. If a product still does not display after troubleshooting, contact Support.
