In Crelate, you may automatically email a contact when they are moved to a particular workflow. This is particularly popular with some sort of 'passed' or 'not interested' stage.
Navigating to your Settings | Workflows you may configure rules for a given stage.
You'll then be prompted with a option to Send an email message. Selecting that box will give you the capability to create a template that you may then use.
**Please note** These templates are unique to your workflow ONLY. You may not pull in separate templates from your general My Templates section.
